Karel van der Mast

Focus area’s: High Tech companies, Strategy development, Mergers & Acquisition strategy. 35 years of experience in capital equipment industry and top level university research. Karel obtained his PhD at Delft University of Technology, after which he went to Philips (Electron Microscopy Development).

Returned in 1983 to Delft where he became professor to lead a particle optics research group. In 1989 he returned to the industry where he occupied several management functions: Technical Management, Marketing, Business Development and General Management. In this period, he worked for FEI, Philips, ASML and Applied Materials. Karel has a key role in six acquisitions and a number of strategic processes, both in the industry and in non-profit organizations. He lived in the Netherlands and the USA. Karel managed two start-up companies.
